NMDP Bone Marrow Harvest Mentorship Program

Dear Colleagues, In commitment to saving lives by providing high-quality donor care and collecting high-quality marrow products for patients, we are pleased to introduce this year’s NMDP Marrow Harvest Mentorship Program. Overview The NMDP Marrow Harvest Mentorship Program (Program) fosters ongoing professional development of marrow harvest clinicians and is designed to equip participants with the clinical knowledge and skills they can apply in their own marrow harvest programs. The Program provides the opportunity to observe and consult with another marrow harvest program and identify best practices to implement for future marrow harvests. The Program will include virtual collaboration with Dr. Wolfgang Rennert, from MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, and Dr. Heather Stefanski, from NMDP, before the onsite visit, dedicated time at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital for observation, and follow-up with the Program MDs to assess application of the Program. Participants will walk away with new skills, best practices, and knowledge in order to make an actionable plan to apply this knowledge within their own individual role and the overall marrow harvest program. Applicant Requirements • Previous experience with bone marrow harvests • Clinicians actively supporting or performing marrow harvests (examples include harvest clinicians, OR technician, nurse, proceduralist, anesthesiologist) • Domestic or international programs are welcome to apply (international applicants are required to self-manage any visa requirements) Grant Funding • $5,000 grant will be provided to the marrow collection program selected • Paid upon completion of pre-work, onsite, and post-work activities Timing • September 1, 2022 – Applications due • September 15, 2022 – Final candidates selected To apply for the 2022-2023 NMDP Marrow Harvest Mentorship Program, please complete the attached application and submit by September 1, 2022.
